Zero and Up

Why "Zero and Up"?
Zero and Up applies to many aspects of blogging: your visitors, subscribers, earnings, etc. No matter where you are with your blog, there's always room for improvement. Hopefully, Zero and Up will be a resource to help you take your websites upward, even if it's all the way from zero!

Could RealRank be a selling point?

If you notice on my sidebar, I’ve installed the RealRank system on this blog. Izea, the company behind RealRank, says that this ranking system is more accurate and helpful to advertisers than a system such as PageRank or Alexa. Although this may be true, the only problem that I’ve noticed is that RealRank is an opt-in ranking system, meaning that the #1 blog according to Izea is not actually the #1 blog on the internet.

However, there are already thousands of blogs using the ranking system, so I’m led to believe that having a blog in the top 100 could aid in selling ads on a website. Why would an advertiser care what Izea thinks about my blog, though?

Advertisers like 3rd party proof of your traffic.
Although most of us will try to give honest stats to a prospective advertiser, there are some people who would exaggerate their stats in hopes of making more profit. When an advertiser sees that an unbiased ranking system is being used, it may help them be more confident in the worth of ads on a site. RealRank has an optional feature (which I am using) that records the average daily hits and unique visitors for a site. These stats are especially valuable to advertisers who would like to know how many people are going to see their ad.

I’m giving RealRank a try. If you have a blog, I think you should check it out as well and let me know how it works for you. What do you think about RealRank? Does it have any hope of becoming a standard ranking system?

Note: At the time I published this post, ZeroandUp has not yet been assigned a RealRank. RealRanks are only assigned once every 24 hours.

RealRank does not allow me to slack. It tracks my traffic like a hawk, and keeps me in line.

Your spam guard is really vigilant. One of my trick to get past the bin is to post comments twice. It will somewhat activate the first comment (that was blocked) and this second one to appear. Of course by then, it would look like I’m stalking you.

IZEA, eh? You know how I feel about IZEA after what they’ve done to me! I’ll keep an open mind about this, though. Let’s see what your realrank turns out to be. I’ll try installing this a little later in the week, thanks for bringing it to my attention!

I have RealRank, and it seems to be more responsive to my traffic flow than Alexa which lags behind.
