Branding Your Blog
This post is part of the “Theming Your Blog” series. This series is part of the celebration for Zero and Up’s new theme!
Branding your blog is something that will help your blog remain popular over longer periods of time rather than just experiencing short bursts of popularity. The theme of your blog is a very important aspect of branding your blog into the mind of your visitors.
Branding With Your Theme
The visual theme of your blog is an important tool that can really help you develop that “brand” that you want. It’s important to have a recognizable image or logo that goes along with your blog; something that will remind people about your website whenever and wherever they see it. The color scheme of your blog can also be very important. To me, it just makes sense that a blog with tips on making money would have green in it’s theme. Of course, some topics are more vague when it comes to color schemes, so that leaves a lot of interpretation up to you. Whatever the case, aim to make your blog unique and memorable.
Branding With Your Slogan
Your slogan is an important part of your branding as well. Although some succesful blogs don’t have slogans, the majority of them do. A good slogan will not only describe what your site is about to an extent, but it will catch the attention of people. You don’t want your slogan to be much (if any) longer than a sentence, however. If you can create a slogan that is short, attention grabbing, and descriptive, you’ve got a winning combination.
Branding With Your Content
The style of your writing and your voice is very important to branding your content, yes. But, I’d like to focus more on the features of your site. For example, “Free Shirt Friday” is something that is commonly associated with ShoeMoney. Monthly blog income reports, although used by plenty of people, are thought of as one reason John Chow got famous. Your idea doesn’t necessarily have to be something that you post on a regular basis, but try and think of something unique. People like unique.
Although I’ll likely expand on themes and branding in the future, this concludes the three-part series “Theming Your Blog”. Don’t worry, though - I’ll keep posting. Don’t believe me? Subscribe to the RSS feed and then you’ll be supplied with proof. ![]()

I looked at my blog, and I do have a definite theme, color scheme (blue & yellow), and image (flowers). I have my slogan up at the top.
So what I need to work on is branding my content.
